When I did a Step Four, I realized that my whole life had been fear based. I saw a lot of it as anger, but on reflection, I saw that under it all was abandonment, rejection, insecurities, resentment, and many more emotions, most of them attached to a lot of hurt and pain and I didn't know how to deal with it.
I had to let go of the fear in order to take an inventory of what was, real or imagined.
