I can identify, so often it is a quick fix. We forget that the scar goes much deeper than the service. Emotional scars run deep and take longer to heal. A band-aid doesn't work. If you cover them up, you can forget they are there and they can grow and fester until you decide to bring them out and look at them.

So much of my life was spent in denial, discountiing and ignoring old hurts, many of them traumatic to me. I tended to compare instead of identifying and got to think mine were not important in comparison to the stories I heard in the rooms. Pain is pain. Trauma is trauma. We have to allow ourselves to heal.

Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdome to know the difference. I can't, my God can, just for today, I choose to let Him/Her.
